Academy Classes

Specialized enrichment courses taught by highly qualified instructors. All classes are designed for small groups focusing on individual learning that encourages creativity, exploration and discovery. These 10 week rotational sessions and are held after school in the elementary school classrooms. Instructors sign students out of childcare and into Academy Classes.

Q: When is your birthday?

A: November 12

Q: Where were you raised?

A: Hong Kong and Los Angeles near Disneyland

Q: What college did you attend?

A: UC San Diego

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: "The Little Engine that Could" because it has a good lesson. No matter how hard things get I think..."I can!"

Q: What is your favorite movie?

A: The Goonies

Q: What is your favorite TV show?

A: The Simpsons

A: Basketball

A: Magic Johnson

Q: Do you have any pets?

A: I have a dog named Gizmo and 2 turtles

A: Yes, I have 2 daughters their names are Victoria and Allison

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I like to spend time with my family and friends. And, I also like to play basketball

Q: Do you have a dream car?

A: Yes, an RV camper so I can go on vacation and not have to use public bathrooms.

Q: Where did you work before being a teacher?

A: I was the Assistant Manager at City Bank

Q: Why did you become a teacher?

A: I originally wanted to be a pediatrician and work with kids. Then I visited a friend's classroom and decided to go back to school to become a teacher.

Q: How long have you been a teacher?

A: 10 years

Q: What is your favorite subject to teach?

A: My favorite subject to teach is citizenship. I like children to learn how to be a good citizen.

Q: Why did you choose to teach 3rd grade?

A: The principal offered me 3rd grade and I took it!

Q: Have you taught another grade?

A: I have taught 5th grade and substituted in Kindergarten. I have also taught 7th and 8th grades.

Q: Is Live Oak the only school you have worked at?

A: No it's the 3rd school I have worked at. I taught at Anaheim Elementary School, which is the school I attended, and I 've taught at Rio Vista which is in the Mt. Diablo School District.

Q: If you weren't a teacher, what job wold you be doing?

A: I'm already doing it, I'm a DAD! Also, if I had the skills I'd love to play basketball or maybe be a chef!

Academy Classes

The Growing Room Academy provides hands-on enrichment classes at the Growing Room after school. These classes are available to all students and are an affordable way to learn sports, STEM, music and so much more.
